THE FOUNDING OF SIGMA NU

Sigma Nu was founded in 1869 in Lexington, Virginia by James Frank Hopkins, Greenfield Quarles, and James Mcllvaine Riley. We are part of the Lexington Triad which is a group of fraternities founded at Virginia Military Institute (VMI), this group includes Sigma Nu, Kappa Alpha Order, and Alpha Tau Omega. Sigma Nu is founded on the principles of Love, Honor, and Truth and there are over 160 chapters and 235,000 members since this fraternity was founded.

Sigma Nu at UF

The Epsilon Zeta chapter of Sigma Nu at the University of Florida was founded in 1920. There are over 2300 who are members of the Epsilon Zeta chapter and currently our chapter has over 40 brothers. Our chapter has very notable alumni from Bob Graham, former governor of Florida, to Lindy Infante, former head coach of the Green Bay Packers.
